May 22, 2013 – (Sarasota, FL) – While more than 57,000 business and individual economic loss claims have been filed in Florida alone, misconceptions still remain about the facts of the Program and qualifications. Hank Didier, Founding Partner of ERG Law Firm, will speak to healthcare providers regarding their rights under the BP Settlement Program on June 11th at Blake Hospital in Bradenton. All healthcare providers are welcome to attend this free event.

In this public information session, Mr. Didier will discuss the history of the legal battle, pertinent facts and the rights of individuals and business owners. BP’s legal team is working overtime on the myriad of legal and public relations battles it is facing. Between early payouts, the current Settlement Program, the creation of the RESTORE Act, criminal charges and fines, and finally, the headline-grabbing civil liability trial – it can be hard to keep everything straight.

Where does this leave healthcare providers? Like most professionals, healthcare providers in counties along Florida’s Gulf Coast likely felt an economic impact in the months after the 2010 BP oil spill. The Deepwater Horizon Court-supervised Settlement Program is the landmark class action settlement designed to return funds directly to businesses and professionals in regions impacted by the 2010 BP oil spill.

While most did not experience oil on our local beaches, the April 2010 oil spill directly and indirectly impacted our struggling economy. Through the Program, BP has acknowledged this damage and is addressing it by compensating businesses in a fair, objective and reasonable manner.
