Deepwater Horizon Settlement Program
Many west coast businesses saw a decline in their revenue in 2010, or had to restructure to remain afloat, due to the trickle-down effects of the BP oil spill. Through a new class action Settlement Program, BP has acknowledged these economic harms, and is now working to provide financial relief to Florida businesses with valid claims.
Most industries are eligible under the terms of the settlement.
The new Settlement Program that received final approval on December 21, 2012, has fundamentally changed who qualifies for economic relief, and how companies are evaluated and compensated for the direct or indirect economic losses they suffered. However, most business owners and professionals simply do not know that they are specifically included within the terms of the new settlement agreement, and that they may well have valid claims.
The fact is, almost every type of business has been defined as eligible, but, only those who learn of the new Settlement Program and are evaluated will be compensated for their losses.
